Sichuan was the same, but everything felt different. Friends in Chengdu almost unanimously raved about the taxi drivers, how during the night of the May 12 earthquake, these men and women of doubtful repute in the past had all rushed towards the quake-hit Dujiangyan area, more than a thousand taxis becoming a mini-army of rescue vehicles ˇV free of charge.

Sanjiang Plains are located at the main passageway of the migration route and are an important perching habitat of many Northeast Asian birds. Early spring is the high season for the major migration of waterbirds. Among these migrating birds, of more than 100 species, at least eight are endangered species under the nationˇ¦s highest protection, including the red-crested crane, the oriental white stork, the white-tailed seagull, and the Chinese sand gull. |
