| Profile Yang Zhiming - A Lifelong "Journey" |
| ------I first met Yang in the spring of 1984, when I had just returned from an extensive tour in the mainland China. With little experience and much enthusiasm, I joined China Tourism Magazine as a journalist. At that time, Yang was the chief editor, very experienced in the trade of travel publications. Due to poor health, he was unable to work every day. Pity, for I missed so many chances to learn from him. | ||

------
Actually, the predecessor of China Tourism Magazine, "Feng Guang"(Yang
was the chief editor there) taught me how to travel in China when the
country had just begun its open-door policy. There were only a few travel
magazines on China at that time. Guided by an article in "Feng Guang",
I walked the Silk Road for the first time. Without the travelling tips
from the magazine, I might have missed so much along the way. I never
expected that several years later, I would be fortunate enough to enter
travel publishing industry, and to work in the same company of this respectable
mentor. Although I had no personal interaction with him, his books had
given me so much. |
